Do I need a dispatching business plan?

How do I become a truck dispatcher?
You can become a dispatcher by having person-to-person training, by watching others, by being mentored, or by getting a dispatching course. There is a lot to learn such as trucking terms, negotiating freight, dealing with freight brokers and truck drivers, and making sure everyone stays safe on the road. In my opinion, you can be ready to book freight on your own in a month or two, but to be very comfortable and be able to present yourself as a competitive transportation dispatcher, you will need at least a year or so. After that, it's constant learning and working on little things. I have been dispatching for a decade now (plus I drove a truck for a decade before that), and I am still learning and adjusting to new rules and regulations.
Why do I need a business plan to start my dispatching agency?
Well, if you think you are ready and have what it takes to do the job in a professional manner, you have to have something that will determine your direction. You will need it for your company, for investors, creditors, or potential business prospects. You can find the business plan I came up with here and you should feel free to adjust it to your own needs.
